A downloadable game for Windows

A simple metroidvania based on infiltrating a computer, inspired loosely by 1980s media.

Uses keyboard or controller on windows computers. It should run on pretty low specs.

It was made for the Metroidvania Monthly Jam # 20.

Controls are:

Movement: arrow keys / d-pad

Look Up/Down: arrow keys / d-pad or right stick

Jump: Space or A button

Dash: S key or B button

Climb: A key or Y button

Attack: D key or X button

Map: M key or select button

Pause: Escape or Start button

Note of versions: runDiomedes0.1b.zip was uploaded within the strict timeframe of the jam. runDiomedes0.1f.zip was uploaded 16 hours after the deadline. Falcon Nova stated that submissions could be submitted up to 24 hours late, so I have added bug fixes and a map within that additional timeframe, but kept the original submitted file intact.

All art and coding was by me. I reused some of my generic code that I made for movement etc.

Are you planning to implement a map soon? I want to wait for that if so

Hi samthefireball. Yeah, I'll try to get the map included today. It was planned, I just ran out of time before the deadline. Thanks :)

sweet, I’ll keep an eye out! If you think of it, could u comment when you do so I don’t forget?

That's done now. Make sure you download the version called "runDiomedes0.1f.zip" as that has the map and some bug fixes.  :)

awesome! I played it. Here’s some thoughts

- really excellent art style and solid animation. Reminded me of axiom verge in a couple of ways

- interesting and unique room designs that were quite challenging

- the world design felt good as well

feedback for improvement

- a simple one on the map-  marking your current place on the map, be able to zoom in to a large screen, and include custom map markers. the game is a little too challenging in my opinion, and one of the main reasons is the exploration. The rooms are pretty large and there’s a lot of things, so being able to mark things you missed would be helpful

- the one hit death is pretty brutal. I know the checkpoints are instant, but I think it just feels a little too punishing. Maybe 3 lives to start?

To be honest, those issues I had made me not get very far. The gameplay just frustrated me out of difficulty, in both the exploration and the platforming. I can tell there’s a great game here, just needs some tweaks

Thanks for trying it out, and the feedback. How did I neglect to add the "current room" on the map? A little embarrassing, but I was on limited time. I will add this in future.

As for difficulty, yep it does need a lot of balancing, but jam conditions doesn't allow much for that. I will be looking at that in the future.

Thanks again.
